The iF DESIGN AWARD 2017 winners were celebrated in grand style!

The design event of the year:
Over 2,000 guests from 41 countries celebrated the winners of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2017 in the BMW Welt in Munich.
For the 64th time, the internationally renowned label for design was awarded in grand style.

On 10 March, over 2,000 guests from design, business, culture, politics and the media from over 40 countries celebrated the winners of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2017 at the BMW Welt in Munich. Each year, the iF International Forum Design GmbH (Hannover) awards the internationally renowned label for design. 75 winners from around the world were honored for outstanding design achievements on stage by Ralph Wiegmann, iF CEO, with the coveted trophy, the iF gold award.

A total of 5,575 contributions from 59 countries entered the competition in the following disciplines:

Product Design
Communication Design
Packaging Design
Service Design
Architecture
Interior Architecture
Professional Concept
In January, a 58-member, independent, international jury of experts from 19 countries awarded the design label, the iF DESIGN AWARD 2017, in Hamburg. Additionally, the 75 best works were honored with the iF gold award 2017.

Jury chairman Fritz Frenkler: "The competition is becoming increasingly international. To do justice to the diverse, local and cultural characteristics and needs of submissions, our jury has to include members from around the world. They have done an outstanding job. After all, the design and production quality of the entries gets better from year to year. In formal aesthetic terms, the majority of entries in some categories are very similar. These include computers, printers and smartphones. This makes it extremely important to distinguish, identify and evaluate relevant details. This can only be done by experts who aspire to be objective, and to thus judge the world's most important design award."

iF WORLD DESIGN GUIDE – the largest design portal
All winning entries will be presented in the ‘Design Excellence’ section of the iF WORLD DESIGN GUIDE, the world's largest design portal, forever. Nearly 40,000 products and services that have been distinguished with an iF Award since 1954 are documented here.

iF design app
The free iF design app has also been updated to include this year's iF award-winning submissions. With nearly 20,000 images, videos and texts, the app features iF award winners from the last three competitions.

iF design exhibition in Hamburg
The winning entries will be displayed at the iF design exhibition Hamburg on over 1,500 square meters of exhibition space, divided into three sub-exhibitions of the following categories:

Part 1: From 11 March to 5 June 2017*:
• Telecommunication • Computer • Home Furniture • Lighting • Leisure • Watches / Jewelry • Babies / Kids • Building Technology

• (11 March: Ground floor opens, April: Lower level opens)

Part 2: From 22 June to 17 September 2017:
• TV / Cameras • Automobiles / Vehicles • Audio • Kitchen • Public / Retail • Packaging

Part 3: From 5 October 2017 to 18 February 2018
• Household / Tableware • Bathroom • Textiles / Wall / Floor • Office • Industry / Skilled Trades • Medicine / Health / Care • Sports / Outdoor / Bicycles • Garden

Entries from the disciplines Communication, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Service Design and Professional Concept will be presented digitally all year long.

Since over 60 years, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been recognized as an arbiter of quality for exceptional design. The iF label is renowned worldwide for outstanding design services, and the iF DESIGN AWARD is one of the most important design prizes in the world. Submissions are awarded in the following disciplines: Product, Packaging, Communication and Service Design, Architecture and Interior Architecture as well as Professional Concept. All awarded entries are featured on the iF WORLD DESIGN GUIDE, in the iF design app and are displayed at the iF design exhibition Hamburg.
